Maintaining a standard weight has become very difficult nowadays as life has become stagnant on one hand and on the other it has become so fast that it has become difficult to maintain a balance between mental and physical activities. Professionals these days have to make more mental efforts to reach their targets than physical efforts. This lack of physical activity leads to weight again which becomes the cause for a number of diseases like heart attack, respiratory problem, muscular and orthopedic ailments.

Being overweight has become a major concern in both India and abroad and therefore there have to be some means of weight loss. There are a number of ways to lose weight like diet control, physical exercise, taking food supplements that control hunger and medicines that melt fat. 

Losing weight the natural way is much better than artificially. Taking medicines may help in reducing weight but they have their side effects too. Weight loss medicine often affects the metabolic rate of the body leading to fatigue. Therefore the first step towards controlling weight is to chalk out a diet plan that would maintain our weight and yet not make us undernourished. Our diet should be balanced. The intake of carbohydrate should be according to our body weight and that of protein should be according to our needs. Too much of carbohydrates can lead to an increase in weight and excessive protein can make your muscles fibrous and nerves stiff. We can consult a dietitian to prescribe a balanced diet chart for us.

Along with diet, regular physical exercise is also essential. People doing desk work have to do some physical workout for weight loss as they are more prone to get overweight. An optimum weight can keep us healthy and satisfied.
