Do you know the other term for "civic sense"? It means social ethics. Yes, there is a lack of civic sense among the people of India. Indians lack the concept of general civic sense. But, can anybody explain the reason of such thing in the nation? The lack of proper education is the major reason behind this.
People are extremely reluctant to learn new things. They are very rigid to changes. The attitude, "I know everything" is the major cause of lack of civic sense in India. No stress is given on learning civic sense in India. The self-centered mentality of the individuals makes them unaware of several critical issues.
The most important factor is that people give absolutely no importance to learning common sense and imbibing it at all. It is the responsibility of the teachers, gurus and parents to teach individuals right at the young age.
These habits are developed from the childhood days. People feel proud in breaking the rules. The most important point is that people must be willing to imbibe the civic sense and implement it in their day to day lives. It can never be taught to the adults. The adults must implement them on their own considering it to be their responsibilities.
But when it comes to common knowledge, all we witness is a lack of civic sense in Indian youth. Nobody stresses on the need to learn civic sense in India and there are very few who understand the importance of imbibing it. Blame the lack of awareness among people and a self-centered mindset among people that makes up for the basic causes of lack of civic sense in India.
Talking about the youth of the country just saying that there’s “lack of civic sense in Indian youth” won’t help better the situation. Parents and the society as a whole should take the responsibility of teaching kids the rights and wrongs from the very beginning so that they learn to mingle with people from various communities and appreciate the diversity. This would encourage tolerance towards people from other communities.
Looking at the condition of the country, getting an understanding of the civic sense is the need of the hour especially in a secular country like India. The failure of appreciating others has prevented India from developing, and it is the lack of civic sense which leads to communal incidents. Basically it's the failure of the realization of the fact that developing civic senses can make our country a better place to live in.
Yes, Indians Lack civic sense.
