The 24 story tower is home to about 600 people who lived a nightmare when the tower suddenly was surrounded by flames.

According to an eyewitness, in a distressing situation where people were putting their lives at risk to evacuate the building, a mother dropped her baby from the ninth or tenth floor of the tower, and a gentleman caught it on the streets. The person had understood the lady gesturing for help through a window that was ajar; she signaled that she is dropping her baby from the smoke and fumed filled building.
According to another eyewitness, people were scared and at their wits end due to the sudden fire. Many were screaming for help, and others were trying to throw their kids out so at least they would be rescued.

According to authorities and the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, the death toll could rise. 78 people are being treated in hospitals out of which 18 are in critical health. The cause of the fire remains unclear.
