Mid-level employees in Indian IT sector facing an uncertain future

With the advent of automation and other new technologies, middle-level employees in Information Technology sector in India are facing an uncertain future. Thus, despite the fact that the industry is adapting itself to the changes in its work scenario.

This restructuring is likely to affect the middle level employees whose population is approx about 1.4 million. These categories of employees have 8-12 years of experience and are earning Rs 12-18 Lakh. Career progress in information technology has been measured through a number of people in the industry but now the dynamics are changing.

Companies end up paying million to middle level employees but as technology is changing, the need for innovation is being felt and not many are comfortable to adapt to this change. It is being increasingly seen that roles which were assigned to middle level employees are now being transferred to the machines. This is the need of the hour as productivity level can only be enhanced through automation. This is impacting the way hiring is being done and a reflection is being seen in paychecks of people at the top and middle management level in organizations. While the top brass gets a hefty pay rise every year, it is not that forthcoming when it comes to mid-level employees.
