With so many countries fighting the race for being number 1, it is difficult to figure out the exact positions. A lot of surveys are conducted to keep a check on the most powerful economies of the world.

Even after the shocking elections of 2016, US is the leading economy in the world. It is a highly developed country and has the world's largest economy by PPP. Americans hold nearly 40% of the total wealth of the world. It ranks among the highest in several spheres of socio-economic performance, including wages, human development, per capita GDP, and productivity per person.

Russia is one of the world's wealthiest nations capitalizing on its natural resources. Its military spending has always been more than the countries within NATO. It spends nearly currently 5.4% of its annual GDP on defense and military.

China has the world’s largest military safeguarding a population of about 1.4 billion people. China had a rapid growth and became one of the world's fastest-growing major economies.
