Getting married is a great thing especially for someone you love.. but what if you are not the choice of his parents just because you are not FAIR. Well yes, it matters in Indian Society... And if you are a girl with not fair complexion, you are finished.
Doesn't matter how educated and qualified you are or how good you are as a person from inside you are always judged by the color of your skin.
I am not sure we can call it racism because parents do this comparison between their own child, in the same home.. not even a 1-day old child is spared. The moment kid is seen by others they will be a victim of the constant comparison that oh the kid is on mother or father that's why dark.
Why we Indians have this inferiority complex that fair is beautiful especially in case of girls.
I wish every girl should feel beautiful and think good of themselves and can stand against this social stigma.
The feeling of inferiority can be anything, be it the looks, hair, nose or the general physique. And materialistic greed can as well, make you feel inferior – Why does he earn more than I do? Or how is she more intelligent, got great memory, more athletic, more successful etc. the list is endless. We hold ourselves so low that the list of inadequacies is long and never ending, we ultimately get into the habit of self depreciation.
