The Strongest Countries With Compulsory Military Service

The military of a country is its most important feature. Without a secure military base, it is impossible to withstand any attacks or invasions.
For some countries. the militaries are formed because of the mandate military services to be provided by the citizens.
#1. IRAN
Despite the lack of modern and high-tech arms and equipment, Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran is described as the “most powerful military force”. The country has a mandatory military service for men starting at the age of 18. For general, the service duration is 24 months; for destitute areas, it is 22 months, and for boundary areas, it is 20 months. The military education goes for around two months.
Exemptions:
-    Mental or Physical disability
-    School students
-    Proven accomplishers ( Olympiad medalists, winners of invention)
-    Homosexuals or transsexuals
-    Doctors, firefighters and other emergency workers
-    Women

#2. TAIWAN
Republic of China Armed Forces is the official name of the Taiwanese military. The main aim of the military is to repel or stop any invasions from the mainland China. The mandate on military services is made to maintain an adequate number of armed forces which can be trained and used in war situations. Recent amends in the compulsory military training has reduced the service time to just 4 months.
Exemptions:
-    Women
-    Physically or mentally disabled
-    Non-permanent resident
-    School students
-    Prisoners, till they serve their sentence

#3. COLOMBIA
After the conflict between the government and the left-wing guerrillas caused huge losses, Columbia needed a strong military base to support during emergency. The only way the government could afford such a huge army was by mandating military services on the citizens. The services are optional for women citizens.
Exemptions:
-    Physical or mental disability
-    Natives who live on their land and retain their culture and social integrity
-    Priests and clerics
-    Criminals
-    Single child
-    Children of officers, non-commissioned officers, agents or civilian members of the Armed Forces who were killed or became disabled during their military service.

#4. ALGERIA
The country was left baffled with the enormous task of reforming itself from an anti-guerrilla force to a modern conventional army. The Algerian People’s National Armed Forces is made out of the mandatory military service recruitment. The basic training ends in 6 months followed by 12 months of civil services.
Exemptions:
-    Mental or physical disability
-    Sole supporter of an ascendant
-    Students

#5. ISRAEL
Israel is known for its equal behavior towards men and women. The country supports compulsory military services for both the gender. The service duration for men is 2 years and 8 months, while for women it is 2 years.
Exemptions:
-    Physical or mental disability
-    Torah  students
-    Israeli Arabs
-    Jewish females
-    Pregnant women or expectant mothers

#6. NORWAY
Norway follows the equality policy quite literally. Not only does it boast 40 percent female candidates in the parliament but also require 40 percent woman board members in public companies. All women between the age of 19 and 44 have to compulsorily serve their military duties.
Exceptions:
-    Mental or physical disability
-    Pregnant women or expectant mothers
-    Those who stay or study abroad

#7. NORTH KOREA
North Korea is always in the news because of Kim Jong and his love for nuclear weapons.  Earlier men were supposed to serve for 120 months as normal troops and 156 months as special forces. From 2015, women too were compelled to serve the military after reaching the age of 23.
Exceptions:
-    Physical or mental disability
-    Pregnant women or expectant mothers
-    Exceptional students
