A job interview is a face to face meeting or discussion between the candidate and the interviewer so that the company gets to know the capabilities of the interviewed person. It is said that the first impression is the best impression; therefore how we dress up to the interview does matter to a great extent.
A former employee of Google who was one of the members of the hiring committee mentioned in a post that the way the candidate dressed never came up in their feedback sessions of the interviewed person. So the way of dressing absolutely does not matter, provided the person is not unkempt, dressed in decent clean clothes with a good personality.
In Google, there is no particular formal dress code, but a semi-formal way of dressing can be considered ideal. A simple jeans and a T-shirt with a jacket is one of the options of dresses which could get us a big hearty welcome into this great giant company provided the person meets their expectations.
A casual trouser with a shirt can also be considered as another choice which would suit the occasion. But definitely a formal suit would not be preferred by the company for an interview, just casuals would take care of everything as this firm likes to be hip and cool.
