What to do when Nothing is Working Out?

We all go through phases of our life when nothing is working out, and everything that could go wrong is going wrong. You try your best to turn your life around but nothing works and all your efforts go in vain. Failure after failure and disappointment after disappointment tend to throw us into a pit of depression.

The overwhelming feeling can make us think of our best option is to give up in life, but that is the last thing you should do. In times like these, you have to make sure that the situation doesn’t get worse than it already is. You have to find the right exit strategy.

Are you in a situation where nothing is working out for you? Do you know how to get out of this? Don’t worry; we will tell you what exactly you need to do. Find it out below:

Things To Do When Nothing Is Works Out

#1. Regroup Yourself

If nothing is working out for you even when you are giving it your best, then why waste more of your time and efforts by continuing to work as you have been? What you need at this point could be a short break from your efforts to regroup yourself and reflect a little on the situation. You can put a full stop to your efforts temporarily or reduce your efforts to a great extent and concentrate on rethinking your strategy. Just like our body, our mind also needs a break at times. Otherwise, it gets exhausting, ceasing to work efficiently.

#2. Find A New Direction

Maybe nothing is working out for you because your efforts are not concentrated in the right direction. Is there an angle or side to your situation that you haven’t considered yet? Maybe you are not doing what is needed to be done in your circumstances. Changing your direction or shaking things up a little will help you see things in a different way and take you out of this rut. So stop doing what you are doing and try something different.

#3. Pamper Yourself

Like we have said before, the series of disappointment and failures can take a toll on us and leave us sad or even depressed. It can lead to chronic frustration, anxiety and also increase the risk of developing a range of other psychological disorders. When people face depression, they stop caring for themselves. They no longer follow their health regimen and start to eat whatever they get their hands on and even stop indulging in things that they once loved. If nothing is working out for you at the moment, then do not let yourself fall into this cycle. Take care of yourself, and keep reminding yourself that you deserve better than this. People leave us when lightning strikes us in our life, so you have to make sure that you are always by your side no matter what.

#4. Practice Gratitude

In the face of constant failures, what you need in your life is just a little bit of positivity and the easiest way to gain it is by looking at all the amazing things in your life. Maybe it is the way that the human mind has evolved that we only focus on the things that we don’t have and take for granted what we do, but that is something you need to deal with in an effective manner. You may hate your life at the moment but there must be things in your life that you are grateful for, whether it is supportive parents, a loving partner or any other thing. Relish them as you have never done before. Escape the negative thoughts and look at the bright side of things, see the glass half full.

#5. Find A Mentor

A mentor can be crucial in getting us out of situations that we do not understand. Nobody in the world is perfect and no matter how knowledgeable or smart one is, there comes a time when there is a need to call in someone more knowledgeable or experienced. A mentor can guide you through the tough times in your life. Remember how they say that your vision gets blurred when you are too close to something? Sometimes, a little help from somebody who can take a peek at our situation from outside can be all we need. You can learn from your mentor’s experience and let them be the guiding light that leads you to your destination.

#6. Stop Trying To Control Everything

Having total control over everything in our life is impossible. You can try your best but when the stars are not in your favor, you can’t change anything. Your attitude and your efforts are in your hands but there are a plethora of factors that tip the scale. Therefore, when nothing is working out for you, give up the control. Stop trying to make everything the way you want them to be. Let the chips fall where they may and take life ahead from there. If you keep trying to control your life, you will never be able to enjoy it.

#7. See Obstacles As Opportunities

We know, you must be thinking what a cliché this is, right? Well, this may be a cliché but this is true. When one door closes, another one opens, it only depends on how you look at things. Nothing good can ever be achieved in life without overcoming challenges. Look at challenges as an opportunity to hone your skills and become a better person, all the while never taking your eye off your target. These are your chances to learn and grow and this is how you should perceive them.

#8. Ditch Those Emotions

Emotions could be the reason why you are not getting anything done. Are you too emotionally involved in your efforts? Then try to separate your emotions from your work. Though it is good to have feelings, you cannot let them keep pulling you down and making you vulnerable. Stay away from your emotions for a while, do whatever you are needed to do and then see if the outcome is different. You will be surprised by how all the things start to fall in the right place and your life has taken a dramatic turn.

#9. Make A Change

When you are stuck in a vicious cycle of failure, then you need to change something because nothing is working out. Maybe it is your idea that is wrong, maybe you are not thinking correctly at the moment, maybe you are too stressed because of something, but whatever it is, it can’t be let to go on like this. So make a change in your life. You can try moving to a new place or redecorating your current one. You can try to make new friends and hang out with them even if you are an introvert.

#10. Drop Negative Thoughts And Thinking

You have to look at negative thinking as your biggest enemy. You may be thinking things to be a lot worse than they are. And this is all because of your negative thinking. Negative thoughts plague every single one of us from time to time, but we become extra vulnerable to these when things are not working out for us. That is when it is most important to deal with these. Maybe once you get rid of your negative thinking, things will start to fall into place. Have negative thoughts taken over the control of you? Do not worry, you can always deal with your negative thoughts.

#11. Find Inspiration

Sometimes, a little encouragement can go a long way in turning things around. The only person in the world who understands your situation the best and can find the solution for it is you. And the only way you can do this is by getting off your back and doing the right things. If you feel depressed or lack motivation, then seek inspiration in things around you. Surround yourself with positive people, the ones who make you believe that you can also achieve something great in life. You can read some short inspirational stories that will give you the courage to keep on going.

From a good hair day and spending time with your best friends to buying a dress that looks fab on you, never let anything good slip by you without cherishing it.

Like we said before, nobody other than you can help you get over this rut in your life. So do not let it make you depressed or frustrated. Keep your eye on your target and keep going. The tips mentioned above will help you turn your life around.

Answer

Nothing is working out for you is not a reality or a physical state, but a state of mind. A couple of failures and we all start to believe that our life sucks, there is nothing good in it and we should lock yourself in a room and spend the rest of our lives there. That is the attitude that is needed to be taken care of first and foremost.  When you are facing a series of failures, not finding success in whatever you do, then I believe the best option is to back off. We all go through times in our life when we do not have the apt mental state to succeed. Maybe we are distracted by some other thing in our life or are just exhausted or overworked these days. So what could be a better way to be through with this situation than to step back, take a break, and give our mind the much needed break. All the hustle and bustle of the world can get to little too much for us. And it is possible that we do not even realize this. We may keep on going on in our life not knowing that we need a break but the necessity for it shows in our work when we are not able to meet the same standards of quality that we used to meet earlier. Therefore, if you are going through failures in your life, then the first thing I would suggest you to do is get away from work and take a break. Also remember, the longer the better; the break.  When you come back from the break, do not get back in the same cycle. Although it is highly likely that you will be able to see the sides of your situation with this refreshed energy that you were not able to see before, do not take the chance. Make efforts to be different. Forget about your old approach and how you tried to solve the problems in your life. Think of yourself as a new person, a smarter one, and find better solutions to your situation or problems. Another great way to get your stuff together when nothing is working out for you is getting help. If you are too ashamed to ask somebody for help then I suggest that you drop your attitude right now. Every single one of us, and I mean every single one of us needs someone to help us deal with our problems at some point in our life or the other. So it is okay to ask for help and it is nothing to be ashamed of. You can be a little vulnerable in life and still be a strong person. So, if things are getting too much for you to handle, then talk to an elder. Somebody who has more experience than you, has been through worse and come out stronger. Their words of wisdom can be a boon for your life and you will be surprised how one small ray of light changed everything for you.
