Agencies & tech blogs that specialize in smartphone rumours & info leaks are pretty kicked about the new flagship in Samsung’s fleet of high-end smartphones.
But what makes the S8 so special?
The Galaxy S8 is Samsung’s next flagship smartphone & is generating quite a buzz this year after last year’s S7 debacle. The S8 is Samsung’s redemption song, it’s desperate attempt to stay relevant in the high-end smartphone market.
Sources are speculating that the Korean smartphone makers could launch the in the first quarter of 2017, possibly at the Mobile World Congress event in Barcelona,Spain.
The Galaxy S8 is being speculated to be priced around US $850 approximately. It would roughly come to around ₹58,000/-. But like all launch prices of high-end tech gadgets in India go, the final price could be slightly elevated.
According to most web leaks, the Galaxy S8 will aim to take off successfully from where the S7 series failed. it’s going to be stylish, it’s going to be powerful and it’s going to be an all-rounder smartphone with a whole wide gamut of features
The phone will probably come in two variants i.e. Galaxy S8 & Galaxy S8 Edge.
The display size will be 5.1 inches & 5.5 inches respectively.
The phone will sports a 30 megapixels rear camera & an 8 megapixels front-facing camera.
The phone is most likely to be powered by a 3.2 GHz Snapdragon Qualcomm octa-core processor. The RAM is likely to be upgraded to 6GB.
And the phone will have a mammoth 4200 mAh battery. Like the previous S series phones, the S8 series will also have wireless charging functionality.
The smartphone makers could possibly shed the existing 32GB inbuilt storage capacity and go for an upgrade.
Tech experts are speculating that the S8 will be the first smartphone to have a 4K Super AMOLED display.
The S8 series could launch in two storage capacity variants, i.e. 64GB & 128GB.
The design of the phone could possibly forego the bezels & the home button.
There are also rumours that Samsung would drop the headphone jack like Apple’s iPhone 7 & go with separate ‘wireless in-ear’ headphones. The smartphone makers could integrate the new virtual assistant, 'Viv' with the wireless in-ear pods.
No headphone jack means that we can expect an even thinner phone & more secure waterproofing.
The smartphone could probably sport dual rear cameras.
There are speculations in the industry that the S8 design might be revolutionary, with reports of the Korean smartphone makers filing for a patent on a ‘foldable screen’.
The smartphone will also feature 'Iris Scanner', like the one introduced with the S7 series.
The features & specifications of the Samsung S8 are mere speculations for now. They will only be confirmed once the phone is launched early this year.
