BJP's 'yummy mummy problem', according to Asaduddin Owaisi

AIMIM's Asaduddin Owaisi has a way with words.

Here he is today, about the BJP and it's cow protection agenda: "BJP's hypocrisy is that in Uttar Pradesh cow is mummy but in the Northeast it's yummy."

Owaisi was talking about recent stringent cow protection moves in the BJP-ruled states of Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh (UP) and the dilemma it may face in beef-eating, Christian Manipur, where it recently cobbled together a majority in the Assembly elections.

In UP, the new Adityanath government has come down heavily on illegal slaughterhouses, although critics say the chief minister's targets are meat-sellers in general and by extension the Muslim community.

Gujarat yesterday passed a bill that could jail a person for 14 years for "cow slaughter."

"We have equalled killing of a cow or cow progeny with killing of a human being," a Gujarat minister said.

When Manohar Parrikar thanked Digvijaya Singh for helping BJP form govt in Goa

Goa CM Manohar Parrikar said it was due to Digvijaya Singh's incompetence that the BJP formed government in his home state with the support of other parties. Congress had emerged as the single largest party in Goa winning 17 seats.

Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar visited the Parliament today where the former Defence Minister took a dig at Congress general secretary Digvijaya Singh for 'helping' the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) form government in his home state.

Rubbing salt into Congress's wounds, Parikar thanked Digvijaya Singh and said it was because of the Congress leader's incompetence that the BJP formed government in Goa with support from other parties.

"He spent 48 hours in travelling and in the meantime we formed the government," Parrikar told reporters outside the Parliament while refuting the charge that democracy was murdered Goa

Goa BJP to Felicitate Amit Shah For Electoral Victory

The BJP in Goa would felicitate its national president Amit Shah on April 9 over the party securing power in four of the five states which went to polls recently.

"BJP Goa unit would be felicitating Amit Shah on April 9 for leading the party and forming the government in four states after the recently held assembly elections," party's Goa Unit President Vinay Tendulkar told on Tuesday.

A public meeting would be organised at Campal ground in the state capital, which will be attended by over 30,000 people, he said.

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, who played a key role in stitching up an alliance of regional outfits and independents paving the way for the BJP to form its government in Goa, will also be present at the meeting, he said.

This would be Shah's first visit to Goa after the February 4 Legislative Assembly elections.

The BJP, which finished second in Goa winning 13 seats, managed to form the government under Manohar Parrikar after cobbling together an alliance with regional parties like Goa Forward and Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party besides getting three Independent MLAs to back them.

The BJP scored spectacular wins in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

In Goa and Manipur, where it fell short of a simple majority, the BJP managed to form ministries by securing the support of smaller groups and independents, frustrating the moves of rival Congress.

34 BJP MLAs in UP are women, highest ever, yet at 11% they are still under-represented.
