as to what gives us happiness. You cannot run after happiness as it has different connotations for
different people. For my friend, happiness is money and a rich life. She considers herself lucky and happy.
Happiness is restricted to club life, dancing and party-hearty according to her. For me, it is totally
different. I don’t measure my life by number of clubs I go or the money I have. My happiness comes from
the happiness of others. I chase happiness through the satisfaction of my near and dear ones. If my
family and friends are happy, I think I am, happy. I am at peace with myself, and I am exaggerating. This is
the reality. This is how I am. I do not run after money for my happiness. My happiness has got to do with
something holistic. It doesn’t emanate from one source, and money – damn! That’s such a petty source. I
do not let materialistic things and possessions affect me even one bit. This is my nature. I am always
positive about my life and I have no truck with what we call past. Past is a bucket full of ashes, it is
useless. It is no use thinking about the past which has no relation with your present and future. I had
certain bad things in my past. I encountered a lot of rough stages which broke me during that time.. yes,
that time. Not today in any way I tell you. I am stronger now as I do not let my past overshadow my
happy moments now. I want to share my experience with you guys. Despite of the fact that I have been
really busy in my life, I take out some hours from the daily churning to spend some time with me – just
me. It is very necessary – if you want to know yourself, you have to learn to enjoy your company. You
cannot attain happiness until you start loving yourself. So introspection is very necessary. Mediation is
also very good for the sense of being, it keeps you fresh, reinvigorated and charged. You need not make
any efforts to achieve happiness. It comes on its own. When you realize that you have to value things
around you and do not waste the precious time, you commit yourself to something and you struggle to
achieve that. Well, it is no rocket science. The happiness lies in the positive attitude and approach in life.
Be independent – the thing which guarantees happiness as you can decide things on your own. When
you are someone in your own right, you have the charge to lead your life with your decisions without any
interference. Also, you need to steer clear of petty and shallow things like jealousy, hatred and revenge.
You should not be hostile with someone, do not be hell bent on seeking vengeance, it only leads to
destruction because ultimately it brings sadness.
