We all love flowers; pink, white, yellow, red or any other color, all look beautiful. A flower is the best gift given to show your love, your happiness or your connection with the individual. However, have you ever wondered why flowers are considered a good gift? That is because they bring happiness. Yes, flowers have the power to make a person happy. They bring peace and health to your mind.
Researchers have claimed that indoor flowers or plants are good for the well being of the residents. We often take flowers while visiting the sick in the hospital because they tend to make the person happy. It has been observed that patients who have fresh flowers in their rooms need fewer pain killers or post operation medicines. They are less anxious and are more comfortable than other patients.

Not just the hospitals, even restaurants, and fine dining outlets have fresh flower arrangements on their tables because they help to create a calm and refreshing atmosphere. Brightly colored flowers tend to lighten up the mood of the customers. For that matter, putting a flower pot in your office will keep you calm and energetic too.
Flowers have so many benefits because of certain chemicals that are released by your brain while admiring these delicate beauties.
#1. Oxytocin
Oxytocin is called the “bonding hormone” because it triggers the feeling of social trust, love- romantic or maternal. Flowers release this chemical which stimulates the emotional instinct of a person and creates an atmosphere of love and happiness around them.

#2. Serotonin
It sounds a bit too exaggerated, but this chemical can work as an anti-depressant. Growing them, smelling them or even just admiring them can stimulate the sense of pride amongst humans. We admit it or not, each one of us craves for social attention to satisfy our pride. Serotonin helps you achieve that.

#3. Dopamine
Dopamine is a chemical released by your brain, and it triggers the expectation of a reward. The chemical stimulates the feeling of hope and expectation of something good to happen. The feeling itself creates a happy and joyful atmosphere.

A wildflower hike can help release all the chemicals at the same time. Exploration will help release dopamine, the excitement will trigger the oxytocin, and the appreciation and likeness for the activity you are indulged in will trigger serotonin.
While picking a bunch of flowers from your yard or a florist, make sure you choose the right colors. This is so because; bright colors are more relaxing whereas the bolder ones stimulate energy. Make your choice by your mood. Where flowers with similar shades help you calm down, the ones with opposite shades will fill you up with excitement. Also, those curvy petals set you in the right mood.

Sending flowers with sweet messages have been a long lived tradition. Each differently colored rose has a different and hidden meaning. Flowers are used to conveying what words cannot because sometimes signals are more efficient than vocals.
Saying all the above, we obviously didn’t mean that flowers can substitute medicines but can only help in reducing the anxiety. They can reduce the tension and calm your mind. And what’s new is the fact that smelling daisies can prevent hangovers too. Don’t forget to buy some when having a party night!
