Skimmed Milk is one of the additions on the dairy aisle. It's made when the cream (milk fat) of whole milk is removed to get a fat-free (processed) milk. This milk is consumed with the intention of having a lower calorie count, and it's largely claimed to be loaded with protein.
Cool Skimming: Put aside a container of whole milk with a lid on top for a few hours. This is the time when the fat content settles down. Later, you'll find a floating layer that contains cream on the surface. Carefully remove it with the help of a spoon without shaking the container. What you are left with is your fat-free skimmed milk.
Hot Skimming: Boil some whole milk in a hollow pan for about 10 to 15 minutes on low flame. Once done, let the milk cool down for some time. You will notice the formation of a nice creamy layer floating on the milk. Remove it and there you go!

Drinking skimmed milk as compared to whole milk makes a better choice for a majority of people. It doesn't contain milk fat and is heart healthy. However, according to a study by the Division of Public Health Sciences, Seattle, USA, the relationship between obesity and high-fat dairy consumption isn't correlated. It might definitely aid in countering obesity, but being totally dependent isn't the right decision.

Skimmed milk is high in protein content. It also contains Vitamin A, B2, and D along with smaller amounts of magnesium and Vitamin B2. The nutrients provided are equal to that of whole milk. It's great for your teeth, bones, hair and keeps blood pressure at bay.

Skimmed milk concept came on a rise when Americans started to abandon whole milk assuming it to be fattening. Skimmed milk was touted to be a wholesome food. It became the dairy king. It's definitely low in saturated fats along with cholesterol but a larger portion of protein comes majorly from sugar.
