The role of upbringing in shaping your future

There are several research works and studies, which reveal that upbringing plays a tremendous role in shaping the personalities of people. Yes, it's true that how we behave as adults is a result of our childhood days - the circumstances that we faced, the situations that we were in and the experiences gained during those days are very important indeed.

That doesn't mean that we will blame our parents for whatever happens in our lives. This is not the right approach. But, yes, the experiences of the past including the situations created by the parents and the interactions with the peers and siblings inculcate beliefs in an individual as they grow up. And, these have a tremendous role to play throughout our lives.

Individuals become helpful, caring, loving, competent or rebellious, fragile, selfish, etc owing to these very learnings. It is not one's choice always through a conscious state of mind. It is the unconscious choice of an individual, which most of them are not aware of. Also, there are a lot of variables at play other than upbringing despite the major role played by it.

But, in the end, the patterns are developed, and the behavior is obtained. At times, it ruins the behavior, or in some other times, it makes one successful. Thus, the upbringing of a person has a role to play while shaping the personality to a huge extent.
