When Priyanka Chopra made her Bollywood debut in 2003 with 'The Hero: Love Story of a Spy,' many dismissed it off as another pageant winner going for a regular course of a career choice. The sultry siren proved them wrong every step of the way. They say beauty with brains is a rare combination but this former beauty queen is blessed with both. She oozes sexiness and charm and at the same time has a pragmatic head on her shoulder. She has sailed far off shores and brought back love and respect for herself and the nation.
As this amazing woman adds another candle to her cake as she turns 35, we take a journey through her finest moments that made us proud to claim her as one of our own.
#1. Her crowning moment
Her journey started with a bang as she won the prestigious title of Miss World in 2000. She was fifth Indian to have ever won this title, and the nation was extremely proud of her. Her perfect answer and engaging way won over the Jury panel and our hearts.

#2. A daring woman
In a society where actresses are just fillers in movies and don’t go beyond their glamorous roles, Priyanka defied opinions very early on. She did the controversial Aitraaz movie where she was not just a villain (which is rare for Hindi movies) but also a woman reclaiming her sexuality. She is also a daredevil who had no qualms jumping from scary heights and being a tough taskmaster in Fear Factor-Khatron Ke Khiladi. A great role model we would say!

#3. International debut
Even the great Khans make movies in the hope of a selection at Oscars, but our Piggy Chops took matters into her own hands and exploded on the international scene all by herself. It all started with music videos with the likes of Pitbull, and before we know it, she had her show where she plays a pivotal role. Her recent Hollywood movie, Baywatch featured a dazzling star cast.

#4. Oscar invitations
Talking of Indian actor hoping to make it to the Oscars, our beloved PC attended the illustrious award show twice. What made it all the more special was that Priyanka was invited; the second time and made a place among those rare Indians who got the honors to present the award.

She believes in giving back to society and has used her star status to bring awareness to things that matter most. She has been associated with UNICEF for over a decade and was the UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador for child rights in 2010 and 2016 respectively. She has her own foundation, 'The Priyanka Chopra Foundation for Health and Education,' which mainly sponsors girl child. Priyanka donates 10 percent of her earnings to that fund.

#6. Holding her own
Where most Indians star often suffer from foot in the mouth syndrome while being on an International talk show, Sonam Kapoor or the ill-fated Oprah-Aishwarya disaster anyone? Priyanka ruled with her witty comebacks and infectious charm. The chicken wing contest and Holi celebration with Jimmy Fallon was one thing, but not cowering to Ellen DeGeneres rude remark and putting an end to the ignorance displayed by Chelsea Handler truly showed what Priyanka Chopra is made of. The nation couldn’t be more proud of her.
