Times When Foreign Media Failed To Recognize Indian Celebs

They might be the most recognizable face back home but it’s altogether a different story offshore. Seems like the foreign media has not learned from one embarrassing goof-up and despite the wild storm on social media, they yet again repeated the mistake with another Indian celeb.

Some might find these series of blunders amusing and brush them off-handedly but others aren’t taking the matter lightly.

While Deepika Padukone has just taken her first step into Hollywood, Priyanka is already a hot property there with her upcoming movie “Baywatch” and her famous TV series “Quantico “. This, of course, was not enough to deter the American Paparazzi who during the promotions of XXX: Return of Xander Cage in LA often mistook Deepika for Priyanka.

This goof up happened again during Pre-Oscar Party where the media kept confusing between the two gorgeous damsels. Despite being continuously addressed as Priyanka and the leggy brunette, Deepika kept her cool and handled the situation with great finesse.

Priyanka, on the other hand, was confused for Deepika Padukone at the Los Angeles airport and the actor was in no mood to let this fiasco continue. She later spoke up at an event and said that this was unfair and a serious case of ignorance. According to her, it is not right and every brown girl does not look similar to her counterpart.

Despite the outrage that poured in after media kept confusing the name of the two superstars, Sonam Kapoor had to endure a similar problem. The actress who made her appearance in Cannes as part of the L’Oréal contingent was confused for being Deepika Padukone. A popular photo stock agency published a picture of Sonam’s with the description that Indian actress Deepika Padukone arrives for the film The Meyerowitz Stories in competition at the 70th Annual International Film Festival in Cannes, France on May 21, 2017.

Deepika Padukone finally retaliated to the incident claiming it to be no better than an act of racism. She said that everyone should take offense at such continuous instances as they need to be discouraged.
