Why do Shopkeepers give Sanitary Pads wrapped in a Newspaper or Black Packet?

People have been using sanitary pads for a very long time. I have been buying it ever since I started to menstruate. I do not understand one thing why do the chemist give us these pads wrapped in newspapers or black bags. Periods is not a taboo anymore. There is enough awareness on the same. Besides, it is not contagious that they have to wrap it into something.

What do you think could be the possible reason to wrap it up? Is it fair to be ashamed of a normal phenomenon? What do you think should be done?

This question irks me. Why does something as common and natural as a woman's periods have to be a taboo today? We live in the digital age and India is trying to establish itself as a world country, but back home, this is how we perceive our women and their body's biology to be. The black bag is only symbolic of the black ink that is stamped on every Indian's face who feels uncomfortable due to a woman's periods.

Obviously, it is not fair to be ashamed of sanitary pads, but that's how it's been for the longest time.
