Are engineering and medical field often the only choices of Indian kids?

The fact that Indian parents want their kids to grow up to be either a doctor or an engineer is correct. This scenario is prevalent in the nation for the past many years. And, the reasons are as following:

1. Job security
2. Lack of awareness about various other streams other than medical and engineering
3. Other streams may appear to be a risk for many
4. The urge of earning money quickly
5. There exist pride among the parents to say that their kids are either engineers or doctors

The fact that safety and security come before the self-actualization is perhaps the main reason for Indian parents desiring to make their kids either an engineer or a doctor as they grow up. Apart from these two streams, two other departments, which score quite high on the priority list are the public service commission (UPSC) and chartered accountants or CA. 

But nowadays, many other departments have cropped up in the field of profession. So, why not broaden our horizon and make ourselves aware of the various streams available? Also, why not let's give our kids the preference o choose a stream based on his or her liking and preferences? This will increase the level of excellence to a huge extent.
