India is a land of more and more people along with diverse cultures and traditions. And according to the current population census of India, it has some really surprising insights to put forward. 

The population growth rate of India is pretty high and in a matter of several years, India can be number 1 in the list of heavily populated countries. And the current population of India by religion shows how distinct the land is!

Population growth of India has been tremendous. Today, the Indian population roughly forms around 17.86 percentage of the total world population. Current population census of India totals to around 1,344,603,058 which is almost 1.344 billion as of August 2017. India ranks number 2 amongst the list of densely populated countries. On the number 1 position ranks China. And around 30 percentage is the Indian population living in urban areas as of 2017, whereas close to 70 percent of the population lives in around 6,38,000 villages. 

According to the statistics regarding the population growth of India, every 1 out of the 6 persons on this planet lives in India. And with the population growth rate of India being at 1.2 percent every year, India is close to reaching the Number 1 rank amongst profoundly populated countries. The country can cross the 1.5 billion mark by the year 2030. 50% of the population is below the age of 25 and over 65% is below the age of 35.

#1. Mumbai local trains get around 7.58 million passengers traveling every day. The numbers include more than the population of Bulgaria and New Zealand combined.

#2. Uttar Pradesh's population is more or less similar to that of Brazil as a whole.

#3. It was in the year 2011 that the student population in the country reached more than 315 million which is almost twice the population of Russia.

#4. Surprisingly, taking into consideration the entire United Kingdom population. English speakers in India are more than that.

#5. Kumbh Mela that took place in 2013 had around 120 million devotees to attend the two-month festival. The number is same as that of Mexico's population. And the population remains almost the same each year.
