A very cliché saying goes that a Journalist has only the power of a pen and paper. I will say a journalist has more than that. A journo can trigger winds of change by his amazing and deeply inspiring stories. One has to be more than just a son/daughter of his/her parents to be a journalist. These people certainly think a lot more than just the politics of a country. They construct the platforms for the common man to share their feelings and views.
The important journalists like Ramchandra Guha who worked as the environmentalist are famous for their environment concerned stories which make people aware about their environmental woes. Thus we can say that the journalists have much more power than what a common man might think of.
The only thing required is justness and impartiality. Nowadays journalism is not that transparent and impartial. Big news agencies tailor the news stories in such a way that it will attract greater audience. The news presented is painted with the views of the journalists. It is no longer news but a distorted truth.
We will have to create a new generation of news agencies and journalists that are impartial to the truth and to news. Also they should just purport the people’s views and do not get the power to distort the truth with their biased opinions.
