Do Souls Exist? Science reveals it all

Do we have a soul? Is there an afterlife? What happens to us after we die? The scientist community may seem to unanimously disagree on the fact that there is anything like heaven or hell, the question has bothered many science freaks in the past, who took it upon themselves to figure out the truth.

Yes, that’s true! Several types of research have been conducted by geniuses to determine what separates humans and animals from all the inanimate matter of the world scientifically. Let’s take a look at some of these experiments and theories, and see what they say about our soul.

#1. Weight Of The Soul

In the early 20th century, Duncan MacDougall, a scientist from Massachusetts performed a series of controversial experiments to see if the soul has a weight. He convinced terminally sick people to fit their beds with sensitive beam scales so he could measure the difference in their weights at the time of their death. The conclusion he came to was that human soul weighed about 21 grams or three-fourth of an ounce. The experiment was considered flawed and unreliable by many, and some argued that the weight change was due to the release of the last breath of the subjects.

#2. Picture Of The Soul

A certain Dr. R.A. Watters conducted an experiment in which he placed a grasshopper inside a chamber and dispatched it with ether. An extremely sensitive camera was used in this study to capture images of any movement in the chamber. Upon the death of the creature, water vapors expanded which triggered the camera. About 40 similar experiments were carried out with different insects and animals, and it was observed that in cases when the subjects died, a shadow in the form of the subject was seen inside the chamber even up to 8 hours after the death. However, in cases the creature revived, no “shadow phenomenon” was observed.

#3. Interactions With Souls

In his 2002 book, The Afterlife Experiments, Gary Schwartz, a psychology professor at the University of Arizona explained how he used ‘sitters'; people who wished to interact with their dead loved ones, and ‘mediums'; people who claimed to be able to contact souls. The mediums were asked to come up with specific facts about the dead people based on their interactions. The results with the first sitter showed that the events produced were 77 percent to 95 percent accurate. Similar results were observed with the second medium as well. Experts were very critical of the professor’s experiments, claiming that he deviated from the norms of scientific methodology and that there were many errors.

#4. Voice Of The Soul

Electronic Voice Phenomenon or EVP is a mystical event in which we can hear voices that sound like humans from unknown sources on recording tapes. EVPs being captured on audiotapes is a common phenomenon. Though these voices cannot be heard at the time of recording, they are apparent when the tapes are played. A movie starring Michael Keaton named White Noise was centered around this particular phenomenon.

#5. Your Soul Is Your Consciousness, And It Can Return To Your Body

A physicist by the name Sir Roger Penrose explains how people have near-death experiences. He considers our consciousness as a packet of information stored at a subatomic or quantum level. He has claimed to have found the evidence of this information stored in human cells within microtubules, which leaves the body at the time of a person’s death. He further believes that this quantum information can exist outside the body, maybe till the end of time, perhaps it is our soul.

We can’t say if there is an afterlife, or if we will ever be able to prove it scientifically. But there are certainly many unexplained events that beg to question this Tell us what you have to say on this topic through your comments below.
