Is there Life after Death?

You’re going to die. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow; but one day for sure. Not a very cheerful thought but one day your brain is going to stop working, your heart will stop beating and you’ll perhaps find yourself falling down into a never-ending well from where coming back would be completely impossible. Depressed?

Are you? Most of us think that death is the absolute end, but there have been many studies, experiments and above all, real-life incidents that point towards the slight chance of life after death. No, we are not going to call any of this conclusive but the fact that there have been incidents like these make us believe that death might not be the grand finale we all think it to be.

Children Remembering Their Previous Life

Doctor Ian Stevenson had one of the most unlikely shots to fame. He became possibly the first person in the world to potentially prove reincarnation. We know it sounds crazy, but wait until you find out what he discovered. He arrived at his results the hard way. He went on interviewing and talking to more than 3,000 children from across the globe to arrive at his conclusion. In one documented instance, a child from Sri Lanka revealed the name of a town that she had never been to. She remembered some very minute details about the town, and there was possibly no way that she could’ve ever known all that.

Yes, Mr. Stevenson’s findings might not be completely watertight. His research involves putting a lot of trust into his subjects, and most of his data could be unreliable. But be very sure before dismissing this one.

Quantum Physics Claims It Too

Biocentrism doesn’t have a lot of believers as it is considered to be borderline crazy. Professor Robert Lanza, a pioneer of the subject, believes that all possibilities in the universe happen simultaneously. It is only when an ‘observer’ chooses to look at all these possibilities that they collapse into the one that happened in our universe. If Biocentrism comes out to be true, then time, space, matter and everything else should only exist because of our perception of them. If that is true, then even death is just a perception of what we believe in and not the reality. If Lanza’s theory is to be believed, then we die in this universe because of our perception, but we are still alive in the multiverse; we only need to choose to see beyond the realms of this universe. Crazy, isn’t it?

Visions Of The Blind

We all know about NDEs (Near Death Experiences) and their impact on a person. In their book Mindsight, Kenneth Ring and Sharon Cooper claim that people who were born blind regained their vision during an NDE. They interviewed more than 30 blind people for their study who claimed to have had experienced NDE. Of them, nearly 50% had been blind from birth. It came in the form of light at the end of a tunnel, visions of dead relatives and even having a glimpse of their own bodies from above. This points towards the simple fact that what we think of as impossible is not that inevitable after all; just like the existence of an afterlife.

Firsthand Experience

According to Dr. Eben Alexander himself, he was due to die any moment after his neocortex was offline, but then something happened. His ‘soul’ went on a seven-day journey. Now, if he was in a coma and if his neocortex was offline, that means that there is no way he had the capability to form even the dimmest of memories; but that is not the case. He remembers everything that happened around him. We don’t know if Eben is telling the truth, but if he is, then it makes a strong case for the possibility of an afterlife.

Meeting The Dead

Meeting dead relatives on the other side is perhaps one the most classic example components of an NDE. We can associate it to extremely vivid hallucinations, but Dr. Bruce Greyson of the University of Virginia thinks there’s more to it than meets the eye. He published a paper in 2013 where he noted that many people report, meeting dead people and that far outweighs meeting people who are alive.

We understand that all this is perhaps too much to take at once. We just live our life not thinking if there is a life after death, but as turns out to be the case, there is a huge possibility of it. Not many of us care, but we can’t run away from the possibility of an afterlife.

Do you think there is an afterlife? If yes, then we would love to hear your theories that support your cause in the comments below.
