Finance Minister Arun Jaitley has said that US-India has improved over the past few decades. He was speaking at a reception function hosted by Navtej Sarna, who is India’s ambassador in United State. Arun Jaitley has also said that India is looking towards improving its ties with the United States under the rule of Donald Trump.
This statement from Arun Jaitley holds more value in the light of turn of events which have unfolded recently. Jaitley had only recently met US commerce secretary Wilbur Ross. This was the first of its kind of interaction between cabinet level dignitaries between India and United States of America.
Noticeably, Donald trump has recently signed an executive order which tightens the rules of H-IB visa for Indians. The Indian IT industry in the United States is worth USD 150 billion. It waits to be seen if this executive order will have a detrimental effect on their future.
However, the economic impact of such decisions might not hold for long terms since the United States also wants a stronger relationship with India, particularly in the light of instability in Pakistan. India also wants to adopt a cautious approach when it comes to dealing with the United States since any derogatory statement will harm long-term relations of India with the United States.
