Terrorism has been a cause of concern in India since long. North India has particularly been susceptible to the cure of terrorism. Thousands of lives were lost in the state of Punjab in 1980s due to terrorism. The same story is being repeated in Kashmir now will people being killed on daily basis.
Ending this curse of terrorism is a tough challenge for security forces since these terrorists get support from regions and countries which do not wish well for India. In such a situation, it is very difficult for security agencies to curb this instinct of people who are bent upon creating a tough situation in our country.
1. Giving more powers to security forces
To hit terrorists hard, it is very important for Governments to realize that security agencies in general and Indian Army in particular should be given more Power. Article 370 in the state of Jammu and Kashmir entitles them to certain stringent provisions but this need to be made stronger so that loss of lives among security forces can be minimized.
2. Isolating terror supporting countries globally
Countries like Pakistan which are open supporter of these terrorists should be isolated globally. Post the surgical strikes in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir; the Indian Government has made some dedicated efforts to isolate these terrorists. Such efforts need to be strengthened and supported so that such elements face global isolation.
3. Cutting their financial means
Terrorists get illegal funding from multiple sources. Identifying and plugging in such gaps is very imperative for giving a drastic blow to terrorists. People and political parties from within India who support such elements financially, morally or ethically should be dealt as per the law of the nation and should be given a strong message.
Ending the menace of terrorism is a challenge but India has always been able to contain such forces and it will do so this time too, be it in the North Eastern states or Jammu and Kashmir.
