7 Lamest Reasons people give for Breaking Up with Someone

Breaking up with someone is certainly not an easy task by any means, and perhaps that is why many people resort to lame excuses for ending the relationship. They probably believe that these reasons would make their ex-partners feel good, but the reality is often on the contrary.

Today, we bring you the lamest reasons people give for breaking up with someone. Let us know if you've ever used some of these on someone or were on the receiving end of it.

#1. It’s Not You; It’s Me

We start off our list with the good old, “It’s Not You, It’s Me,” which is also served as “You Deserve Better” or “You’re Too Good For Me.” This particular explanation is a nice way because of two reasons; first, it sounds like a compliment, and second, it ends up making the dump-er look right. You start to pity them because they think they are not good enough for you.

#2. I Am Scared Of Commitment

While some people can be commitment-phobes, it is no reason to break up with someone. If they like you, then they will not end the relationship just because they are scared of commitment. The cold hard truth here is that your ex just did not like you enough to be in a relationship. Also, if they were scared of commitment, who put a gun to their head to enter into a relationship in the first place?!

#3. I am Not Ready For A Relationship

This one can be incredibly annoying, especially, when you hear in a few weeks or months that your ex is now dating someone else; and trust us, this happens to almost everyone who makes this excuse. The truth that comes out of it is that they were just not ready to be in a relationship with only with you.

#4. Whoever Ends Up With You Would Be So Lucky

Joining the list is another standard but a still lame way for people to dump their partners nicely; “the person who ends up with you would be so lucky.” Because, if that’s the case, then why don’t you want to be that one lucky person? It’s like you have hit the lottery and just doesn’t want to cash it in! Who does that?

#5. I Need To Focus On My Career/Studies

Just face it; you are not one of his/her priorities anymore. This is just an easier way of saying, “I’m just not that interested in you anymore.” And soon, you see them walking hand-in-hand with their new partner, and now suddenly their priorities have changed.

#6. I Don’t Want To Hurt You

Well, if you don’t want to hurt someone, then you don’t break up with them. How hard is that to understand? If you have already done something that you know would hurt your partner, come clean. At least your honesty would be appreciated, if not your loyalty.

#7. I Like You Too Much

This is perhaps the lamest of them all. You like me too much? Too much to dump me? Leave me stranded and devastated? This does not even make sense! At least be creative if you can’t be honest.
