Metro has made its way into the port city of Kochi. The first phase, which will be of 13.2 km, was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with other dignitaries on June 17.
With this, Kochi Metro has made it into the longest first phase, covering 11 stations, from Palarivattom to Aluva.

It will also be the first metro in India to use the advanced communication-based train control technology, which will make it even more efficacious. In an interestingly progressive step, it has also been decided to employ transgender people in the stations as staff members.
