Paris Police Targeted In A Suspected Terror Attack On Champs-Elysees

Terror attacks in Paris are escalating at an alarming rate. An attack was averted yesterday before a major disaster could take place but it seems that danger still looms large over Paris security forces.

A driver deliberately rammed into a police van before bursting into flames on the Avenue des Champs-Élysées in central Paris yesterday afternoon. The Police have identified the attacker as Adam Dzaziri, a 31-year-old man from the Paris suburb of Argenteuil. He died shortly after the attack.

In a recent development to this incident, a gas tank and an AK-47 rifle were discovered in the car of the perpetrator. The man was an extremist and was on the security list of French police. He was raised on the Salafi Islamic ideology and didn’t have a criminal record, but had ties with the radical Islamist movement.

Champs-Elysees is very popular among the tourists who visit Paris but this beautiful location has a macabre reputation as it was the sight of another terrorist attack in April where a Policeman was shot dead and two others were fatally wounded just days before the Presidential election.
