Diet and exercise are the best ways to fight cancer

Prevention of cancer is probably the most discussed topic in the current era. Maybe the lives lost while battling this deadly disease has taught us all to be more serious in tackling our unhealthy lifestyle. Cancer can have a genetic link. But it still can be prevented by adopting a lifestyle that is best described by researchers as a ‘Healthy and Routine bound lifestyle”

Exercise

BENEFIT- Exercise is the prominent factor in shaping a person’s unhealthy habits. Daily exercise has numerous benefits. But it does contribute solely in the prevention of cancer. Morning Walk or Jogging helps to vitalize the body and make the immune system stronger. Lifting weights even help in the same way. But cardio has a special benefit when compared to lifting. Cardio involves the strongest muscle of the body-“Heart”. Regular cardio ensures a person has a healthy heart and the blood is pumped uniformly without any blockage. This, on the other hand, ensures that the body is capable of fighting against foreign bodies like cancer causing carcinogens since it has a clean system.

LIFTING AND CARDIO- Regular lifting or performing a routine cardio also helps in metabolism. Metabolism refers to the chemical reactions that are happening in the body. If metabolism is high the body is capable of making antibodies which are responsible for fighting several foreign pathogens. In a way, the body is more capable of fighting against cancer causing carcinogens.

Research says people on a regular exercise regime have an extremely lower risk of developing colon cancer- going down to 30 to 40 percent in comparison to those who are motionless throughout the day. The body mass index (BMI) should be balanced (18.5 - 24.9) causing less threat to cancer. Risk to Several types of cancer like colon cancer, breast cancer, bladder cancer is increasingly reduced in people with regular exercise regime than those who are considerably stable

OBESITY- Exercise also helps in preventing obesity. Obesity is the accumulation of excessive fat in the body because of an unhealthy lifestyle. When the body’s BMI index reaches 30 and above the person is said to be obese. Research says obese persons are 20 times more likely to be detected with cancer than normal ones. Kidney, Gall Bladder, Liver are the common organs that are affected. In turn, the person is more susceptible to cancer. Breast Cancer is foremost cancer that affects an obese person. Regular Exercise not only ensures that the person loses a substantial amount of fat but also helps in controlling the BMI index. This increasingly lowers the rate of cancer.

DIET

Going further, it is quite impossible to follow a routine exercise without a balanced diet. Now diet has a tremendous effect just like an exercise in the prevention of cancer. If both diet and exercise are maintained by adults regularly, the risk of cancer can be avoided to almost 70 percent.

LOW CARBS, MEDIUM INTAKE OF PROTEIN- Following a diet of low carbs can change the body’s adaptive nature of storing fats. When carbs or carbohydrates are stored for long without getting used up, they get converted to fats resulting in an increase weight gain which results in an increased risk of cancer. Eating Low or moderate carbs with a bit high on protein helps the body to accumulate more muscles without Fat. Foods such as chicken breast, tuna and peanuts have high protein content and can be consumed for lunch and dinner.

FIBRE- It is the indigestible portion of food which we eat. It mostly has its origin from plants. But even some meats have fiber in them. They are 2 types-soluble and insoluble fiber. Fibre has a tremendous effect on the colon area of the body. It purifies several bacteria that we intake from food and the process takes place in colon area. Research says having a considerable amount of fiber can decrease the risk of colon cancer by up to 35 percent. Research also states that high acquiescence with a low-fat, high-fiber diet reduces the risk of colorectal adenoma –a rare type of tumor that gradually converts to colon cancer.

CAFFEINE- A Stimulant affecting the central nervous system. It is predominantly found in coffee and to some extent in tea. Coffee and tea have and increasingly effect on prevention of cancer if taken regularly. Oral cancer, Liver cancer and colon cancer are prevented with the regular intake of coffee- roasted or filtered, Intake of caffeine increases the body’s diuretic nature. Resulting in flushing of impurities from the blood system. Research says regular caffeine consumption contributes to 41 percent less risk of being cancer detected.

BERRY- Of all diet prescribed research says consumption of berries can most likely help to reduce cancer risk. High in antioxidants, blueberries including cranberry have a strong impact in cancer prevention. Studies found out that regular intake of berries has reduced the colon cancer risk up to 80 percent in total. That's the highest score of any food against cancer. So berries have an ultimate quality of cancer prevention.

No doubt whether exercise and diet can help in the prevention of cancer, it is totally based on an individual’s judgment. These are the methods to prevent cancer. But unless it is realized by this generation, the method is complete nugatory. But following the increasing deaths in recent years because of this deadly disease, perhaps it is time to reconsider our lifestyle.
