The Ancient Chinese people were divided into two classes:
1. Rich people
2. Poor People
Different classes wore different clothing material accordingly
The rich class wore clothes made of silk. And there were stringent rules for the type of clothes people were allowed to wear. Silk was only allowed to high-ranking officials and members of the Emperor’s Court. And poor would even get punished if they wore silk.
Poor ones used Hemp to make their clothes. Hemp is a rough material made from plant fibre.
There were also strict rules for the colors that people would wear. Like Only the Emperor could wear Yellow color.
There were three major belief systems in China:
1. Taoism
2. Confucianism
3. Buddhism
Taoism is a belief that people should be one with nature and all the living things have a universal force flowing through them. They did not have any rules and regulations. They believed that nature has two balancing forces , Yang and Yin.
Confucius' teachings are followed in the Confucian belief system. They focus on treating others with politeness, respect and fairness.
Buddhism came from India. It is based on the concept of Karma. Karma says that all the actions have consequences and whatever action you take today will come back in the future to help you (or hurt you).
