Well, this is actually true that you are never really ready to have a kid. However, when you prepare yourself mentally and financially that you want a kid, you might have one or two, for that matter. But there are some situations which do not even allow you to have a kid or proves it to be a bad idea.
Moreover, in the generation of millennials, it is common to be confused and trying to find the balance between personal and professional life. The mentality of evolution has come to surface and people always are unsure whether they are ready to have a kid or not. Let us dive into some signs which can tell if you are not ready for kids:
#1. Your Married Life Isn’t As Smooth As It Should Be
This is a very strong sign that you should not think about having a baby right now as you don’t have a rock-solid relationship with your partner. Having a child can actually shatter a vulnerable and fragile relationship rather than mending it. It is very important to have a stable and strong bond between a couple in order to have a baby.
#2. The Kids Of Your Friends Or Neighbours Do Not Interest You
If the children around you annoy you a lot, you should give yourself a little time to plan for kids. If you feel frustrated by listening to stupid questions of other kids, then chances are that you won’t be able to handle your own kid properly. It is assumed that your own kid will have a different bond with you, but if the kids of your neighbours and friends do not interest you at all then you are very less likely to develop a bond with your own kids.
#3. You Are Not That Strong, Financially
This is a fact that can’t be denied that having a kid makes your expenses more and you need to be more financially strong in order to have a baby. You will have to bear the expenses of their clothes, special child meals, car seats, diapers, toys, strollers, doctor’s visits and what not. A new life at home certainly brings new expenses as well.
#4. None Of Your Friends Or Siblings Have Kids Currently
This seems to be a little irrelevant, though it is not. If your family or any sibling in the family have kids, you can have a lot of information about having kids. Though, you have a ton of information about nurturing a baby on the Internet but what your friends and family can tell you can't be found anywhere else. Parenting is a challenge, take it when you are completely ready.
#5. You Are Not matured Enough To Have Kids
This statement is a little offensive, however, this is a very strong reason for you not being able to think about having kids. It can vary from person to person. Some people usually get mentally mature and emotionally ready for having kids, but some just don’t. You need to be emotionally and mentally mature in order to think about having a baby finally.
#6. You Are Too Addicted To Friends And Weekend Outings
Are you occupied with work most of the time and get only weekends to meet friends and chill? If this is your life currently, you should avoid having kids at present. You will have to take out a lot of time in order to take care of yourself (if you are the mother) and the child. If you are not ready to abandon those weekend outings and plans, maybe this is not the right time for you to have kids.
#7. If You Are Constantly In A Move
If your job requires you to travel a lot and you enjoy it as well, you should probably give yourself a little more time to get settled to a place. A globe trolling lifestyle can never be able to handle the pressure of a baby. Travelling will become very messy with kids at least in the very initial stage. Therefore, think about settling down before you plan for a baby.
#8. If You Want To Keep Things Same Between You And Your Partner
This can be a flip side. But there are couples who do not want to change the kind of relationship they have. Having a baby will change the entire relationship and the perspective and priorities as well. If you enjoy being the romantic couple till now, you should enjoy that honeymoon phase for a little more time.
#9. You Value Your Alone Time A Lot
Many people love spending time with themselves. They enjoy long leisure time and just watching movies and having good food when they are free. Such people need time to become more physically and mentally active in order to take care of a baby. Personal time and space is something people don’t easily give up, so think about it.
#10. You Just Don’t Want To Have A Baby Right Now
There are many things in life that you just don’t feel like doing. However, you must have a baby in your life. But if you are in a phase of your life where you don’t feel like having a baby because you just don’t want to, then take time to prepare yourself to have a baby. Give yourself enough time, think about it and then take a decision.
#11. Your Career Is At Its Peak Currently
This can be a very strong reason, especially for women. If you choose to stay at home and take care of your kid, it comes at a risk of losing some vital opportunities at your workplace. There is a time in life when there is nothing more important than just achieving more and more in work. That is the time you need to set priorities and decide what the best for you is.
#12. You Feel Pressured To Have Kids
Having kids is a great responsibility. It is normal to feel pressurized because of this. However, if you don’t feel like taking more pressure in your marriage, you can take some more time to have a kid.
#13. Having Kids Is Like Running In A Race For You
This has become a norm that if you get married, you need to have a baby in some time which is just a myth. People expect women to have a baby at a certain age. This may make a person feel as if she is a part of a race which she does not even want to belong to.
#14. You Don’t Want To Give Up Your Social Life
A serious wrench can come to your social calendar if you have a baby. People don’t realize that having a kid is a major responsibility until they get into it and see how their life changes. Your social life will take a break for many years when you will have a baby. If you don’t think you are ready to give up that social life right now and it is important to you, then take time to have a baby.
#15. You And Your Pet Does Not Go Along That Well
Adopting a pet is like having a new member in the family. However, if you don’t go along with them, you are probably not ready to have a baby as well. You have to take care of your pet like you take care of a child. So if that annoys you, having a kid right now is probably not a right decision.
#16. You Don’t Own A House At Present
Having a rented house and planning to have a baby in it is not a good idea, trust us! You need to be physical, mentally and financially strong in order to have a kid. Also, your flatmates would not really like it when a toddler will join them. More importantly, in terms of security and stability as well, it is not a great idea.
Consider these aspects and you can know whether you are ready for a kid or not. Let us know what do you feel about this in the comments section below. We would love to know your thoughts and experiences.
