With summers popping in, all we need is lots of water to keep ourselves hydrated. Summers are popular for the wide range of juicy fruits that it offers, one of which is Cantaloupe, or muskmelon.

Dogs can eat cantaloupe but in moderate quantities. The orange flesh of cantaloupes isn’t toxic for the dogs, but some of them might catch some stomach aches when fed with cantaloupes, as a result of which they will end up passing loose stool. Just like blue berries , excessive feeding of cantaloupes will disturb your dog’s digestion process.
Cantaloupes are good for your dog because they have:

Melons including Cantaloupes, watermelons or even Honeydew are all safe food items for your dog. Your dog can have Cantaloupe and Honeydew, provided that they are offered in little amounts. Canines find it difficult to process fruits so if you do not wish to see him suffer from diarrhea or indigestion better keep the fruit salad away from him.
Many fruits including Cantaloupes are good for the dog, but shouldn’t be a part of their regular meals. These melons lack proteins and are high on sugar and therefore needs special attention with the quantity that is fed. A few sliced pieces of Cantaloupe melon will help your dog stay cool in the warm summers.
#1. It is advisable to keep a check on the portions of Cantaloupes while feeding your dog because they are sugar concentrated fruits and can lead to your dog suffering from diarrhea.
#2. If your dog is allergic, cantaloupes might cause him inflammation or irritation.
#3. Do not feed your dog with cantaloupe seeds or flesh; it might cause them health hazards. The peel is covered with layers of pesticide which if fed will affect your dog’s health badly.
#4. If your dog is diabetic, then feeding this sugary fruit to him might spike his sugar levels.
Although Cantaloupes are not harmful to your dog, it is important that you know that it contains large amounts of carbohydrates and sugar, which are not really your dog’s need. His requirement of vitamins, nutrients, and minerals should be fulfilled with the protein-rich dog food. Stick to his routine diet by not getting carried away by some easy and convenient feeding tricks.

Do not consider Cantaloupes as a healthy meal for your dog, instead feed him with a few slices of the melon as a reward or maybe as a refreshing snack in the summer season, because feeding them with cantaloupes often will not come out as a healthy treat for your furry lad.
