Why women is still struggling in society?

Because she is still thinking with her old brain… Yes. She is still in her stone age, waiting for some prince to come and pick her up and ask her to move on.

Being a woman I can not only feel but understand and explain where the problem lies with women. In the title, I have used the plural ‘women’ followed by singular auxiliary ‘is’ to include each and every woman in the collective form and explore the source of light, common to all women, due to which she has been suffering.

The man has evolved through the ages but a woman has not. She became and still loves to remain the docile pet of man, whereby man has become accustomed to her docility and is not willing to give it up. This may not be true of matriarchal society, but how many such societies are there? Also, I am not just talking about eastern or western cultures; the case is true to all cultures, in time and space.

Thinking generated the idea of ‘manhood’ and ‘womanhood’ that gave rise to the civilized society. It is interesting to note that man’s life was never devoid of science. The moment thinking begins science steps into man’s life, and this thinking generated the idea of a man as ‘man and a woman as ‘woman, each with essentially different characters. Similar facts are found in animal world too but there, power and strength are the criteria of distinction between the leader and the slave.

But in human society, man is ‘man’ the sole authority of the world, be it his home, office, or any public or private place. The woman remains the underdog. She becomes the absolute ‘other’, inessential; its being depends on the recognition granted to her by man. Nature made her a reproductive organ to reproduce man’s progeny, thereby a maid to meet his basic need; to look after his house and property, of which she could only keep a count but not use it for her needs. She never shared the stage for rivalry in the struggle for recognition, as it was always on the desire of man, to make her a wife, a mother or a keep.

Today her desires, hopes, frustrations, depressions, and the like, she suffers from or undergoes, as she acts in the given human-environment, are all a long tale of suffering. She is never at peace. She is a breathing soul, with a body full of desires and a mind guiding her in fulfilling her desires, in the circumstances availed by her or in situations enforced on her by the family or by her mere existence on this earth. It is very difficult for the man to feel even a bit of her existential dilemma.

Literally, after centuries, a woman came up for her support and the result was a movement; feminism concerned both with the representation of woman in literature and with changing woman's position in society, i.e. by freeing herself from domineering restraints. Central to these restraints is the essentialist definition of what it is to be a woman: definitions that presume human nature is universal and which refuse to see how culture plays a significant role in constructing and fixing the identity. This concept developed into a large movement which grew out of previous centuries of struggle by a woman to win equal rights, as a man was enjoying in his society, of which woman was an equal occupant but never taken to be so by man.

Means only literally, it has nothing to do with the applied side of the problem, i.e., ‘the women is still struggling.' Why? Such a long history of the development of human society has nothing in her bosom for the woman to wipe her tears? Why is the problem persisting? With the emergence of knowledge on earth, the suffering of the woman began in every sphere of life. Human society was created for the good of man, but it surely did something wrong for the woman for which she is still suffering. The crucial point in the history of women is that she is never born to be an individual but to become what knowledge deems her to be.

Today she is struggling for her icon in the society but to her disadvantage, it is another woman who stands against her to pull her leg. And here lies the source of her plight. Has it been the only man responsible for the suffering, the problem would have been solved. It is the woman herself involved in the act of giving pain to her community. See around and you will get the answer.

The woman is named as an incapable being since her birth and is presented by the man with the standards of womanhood to be followed by her in every sphere of life, as he thought would suit her, so she never gets a clear perception of herself. Other women around her: her mother, aunts, sisters, maids, etc., help man to define her limitations.

Not that woman is not striving for her betterment; she is not playing the right character. She is acting, either on the orders of man or becoming the boss herself to enslave the woman. Both the ways, she is bringing suffering to herself. She is trying to evolve, but she needs to understand that she has many enemies than she could think of in the guise of other women. She utterly needs a distinguishing and private cultural self-image that establishes her not as a suppressed being but as one who participates in the making of the identity of herself as a human being.

While reading this article think of the woman at home, in the office, on the way to home, in the public places and anywhere where man’s existence is, do not take her just by her physical being but as a living soul, a being full of sensitivity, and reach her as such to bring comfort to her, not pain or disgrace. This is an appeal to all women for only they can help themselves.
